ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE

Does it drive you nuts when telemarketers call up right on dinner time? Do you struggle to fit everything into your busy day? Is the yard looking messy and the housework piling up? Do you find yourself feeling stressed at work? It’s a problem, right?

You are not alone, but have you ever stopped to compare your problems with those of others? Your neighbours? Friends? People in other suburbs, cities, countries?

There is a fantastic quote from American newspaper journalist Regina Brett:

If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.

Perspective is a powerful thing.

We live in a lucky country. We don’t have wars or uprisings, famine, laws which restrict our freedom of movement, religion, career or even speech. We don’t wake up each day wondering if we will survive to see the next. We are lucky. VERY lucky!

For most of us, our problems are not life and death. Our problems are not unsurmountable.

Our problems are High Quality problems.

So why is it that we feel hard done by, complain and kick up a fuss about the tiny hiccups that come our way? Are we a nation of spoilt brats?

I like to think not. I suspect that we are just so busy and caught up in our own lives that we lose perspective.

We sometimes forget to have gratitude and appreciation.

We forget to take a step back and look at how lucky we really have it.

So what if this week we all take a moment, a break from the busyness, to count our blessings?

“Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance”

-Ekhart Tolle

Let’s take some time to think about the people and the things that we are grateful for.

Think about the ones who make your life that little bit easier, more pleasant. The things that give you something to smile about. The things that make it all worthwhile. The big things and the little things that you normally overlook or take for granted.

This week, let’s focus on the GOOD things…the GOOD people.

Perhaps we could even thank the people we have in our lives? We could tell them and show them we are glad to have them. Express our appreciation. Let them know how we feel.

Let’s take some time to put things into perspective and really enjoy how LUCKY we are!

Oh. And THANKYOU, for taking some time out of your day to read this. We appreciate it!
